Activities: Week of Nov. 6

Remembrance Day is an important day set aside for all of us to reflect on the men and women that made significant sacrifices for our freedom.  Thanks to all of the cadets thatcame out last week and yesterday to support the Brooklin and Whitby Legions respectively with their Poppy campaigns. 

On November 11, the cadets will participate in a variety of ceremonies and anyone not already assigned to a specific location are welcome to join the cadets in the parade leaving from the Whitby Legion.  We do appreciate that it is also a work and school day for many so please participate only as available.  Cadets are responsible for their own transportation.

Friday, Nov. 11 (AM) – Full dress

  • Whitby Legion Parade, 9:45am-12:30pm:  OIC is 2 Lt Chris Bain.  All available cadets are welcome.
  • Brooklin Wreath Laying/Ceremony:  OIC is Lt Wainwright with WO2 Tabinga
  • Durham District School Board Ceremony, 9:30am – 11:30am:  OIC is Capt. Pearce with 8 cadets.

Friday, Nov. 11, (PM) – Full Dress

  • Whitby Legion Dinner:  OIC is 2 Lt. Chris Bain with Level 4 cadets. 

You are welcome to attend any Remembrance Day ceremonies but please remember that you are to only wear your uniform where a 2 VandenBos officer is present.

 

Regular Activities for this week include:

  • Sunday, Nov. 6,6:30am-4:00pm:  Gliding for cadets that are signed up. 

  • Monday, Nov. 7, 7pm-9pm:  Debate & Effective Speaking

  • Tuesday, Nov. 8, 7pm-9pm:  Band at the Hangar.  Start time is at 7pm.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7pm-9pm: Drill team at the Hangar.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7pm-9pm:  Ground School for Nat’l Camp qualified cadets

  • Thursday, Nov. 10, 7pm-9pm:  Range at the Hangar  *New for signed up cadets*

  • Thursday, Nov. 10, 7pm-9pm:  Supply night at the Hangar

  • Friday, Nov. 11, 6:45pm-9:30pm:  Training at Donald A. Wilson SS, Full Dress

  • Saturday, Nov. 12, 9:30am-12:00pm:  Band -Bowmanville Santa Clause Parade.  Meet @ Temperance St.

Reminders:

  • Treats for the canteen are welcome for this last Friday, Nov.11.  Proceeds from the sales will be shared equally with both the Brooklin & Whitby legions.
  • Raffle tickets are available!  For $20 and with only 500 available, you have the chance to win 2 Air Canada tickets and other great prizes. 
  • Save the date for Tri-Service on Dec. 9.  All cadets welcome.  Cost is $25.
