Activities Post; Week of April 9

It was another great week with the debate, band, drill and rifle teams preparing for competitions coming up in April!  Keep up the good work.  Drill showed us some of their good work at closing parade with crisp turns and synchronized bangs to mark their changes.  Well done.

Camps have started to come in … On Friday it was announced that one of our senior cadets, FSgt Wityszyn, was awarded a glider camp at Mountainview.  Congratulations!  There was a line up for 2Lt Farid for camp distributions.  It’s important for the paperwork to be brought back as soon as possible so that openings can be reassigned.  Since only approx. 30% of cadets nationwide will get an offer we want to ensure all spaces can be filled.

Thank you to Lt Erdelyi, the cadets and SSC that represented the squadron at Whitby’s Vimy Ridge concert.  The cadets greeted people attending to hear lovely performances from the County Town Singers, Barrett Moore, Alex Hanson and many more as they reflected on music and events from 100 years ago.  The cadets lined up and were led by their seniors carrying Canadian flags while everyone sang The Maple Leaf Forever.

On Sunday the Rifle team did a good job representing the squadron with a 6th place finish out of 14 teams.  Way to go!  Check facebook for pictures of the team and pass on your well wishes.

IMPORTANT:  Sign ups on Thursday for the Gliding day on Saturday and sign up for Easter egg hunt on Sunday.  Please check your schedules and plan to attend.
