We are now in the process of accepting applications for the 2017 Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence.
The main objective in awarding the RCL Cadet Medal of Excellence is to emphasize the citizenship aspects of the cadet program. To be eligible for consideration, a cadet must meet the following conditions:
a) meet all requirements of the squadron’s annual mandatory and optional training programs;
b) participated in a minimum of three community service events, (outside of cadets) in addition to those supported by the cadet unit through its LHQ program;
c) regarded by peers and superiors as exemplifying the model cadet;
d) enhance the cadet squadron through:
e) co-operation with peers and subordinates;
- promoting goodwill and morale;
- aiding in the development of group identity and cohesiveness;
- supporting and assisting fellow unit members; and
- his/her involvement in the local community
If you feel that one of the senior cadets meets the criteria for this award, please write a brief (no more than one page) note and give a copy to either me or Lt Erdelyi this coming Thursday night, April 13, 2017 so that we can add your input to staff feedback to help the nominating committee make their recommendations to the Commanding Officer. In particular if you feel there are any Flight Corporals or Sergeants who ought to be nominated, that would be very helpful.
Note: self nominations and nominations by family members will not be considered.
Lt. Nick Erdelyi & Bill Rankin
